New White Paper – Air versus Liquid Cooled Transmitters

The CAPEX for most transmitters installs is a serious one for a broadcaster.  In addition to CAPEX, there are OPEX expenses to consider.  Both of these are adding up to the TCO for a broadcaster.  The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is typically broken down into 8 metrics when analyzing transmitter financials.

  1. Cost; which typically refers to initial capital investment installation-relatedn related costs, AC power consumption, HVAC power consumption, maintenance and spares requirements
  2. Ease and necessity of maintenance
  3. Installation complexity
  4. Reliability
  5. Scalability
  6. Floor Space (footprint)
  7. Ambient Noise
  8. Life expectancy

CAPEX, OPEX, and TCO for air-cooled versus liquid-cooled transmitters can be different.  Over the last decade plus air cooled and solid state transmitters have also come a long way in terms of power output.

We have discussed all this in a recent White Paper we have published.
